In keeping with our vision of growth and expansion as one of the nation’s premier cold formed steel component manufacturers – SSC is seeking an individual for an immediate opening for its specialty engineering group.
The individual must possess strong design/engineering abilities and have a solid background in full building design of light commercial buildings. Design knowledge of cold-formed steel components is also helpful. The desire to advance your career through the profitable growth of a division is essential.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following:
- Full Building Modeling
- Component Design
- Familiarity of IBC and ASCE Requirements with respect to building construction
A minimum of a 4 year bachelors degree in engineering is required.

The Production Manager is responsible for all aspects of production process and effective utilization of Human Resources. This position is also responsible for creating a positive atmosphere and providing leadership and direction to all production levels in order to achieve the desired results. Maintain a work force of optimum size and efficiency to meet demand requirements and customer needs. Resolve all forms of employee related concerns and develop plans to eliminate these problems in the future. Develop and implement plans relating to quality, safety, scheduling and materials. Develop innovative production strategies that increase productivity and lower costs where possible. Recommend desirable additions to and/or improvements in equipment, processes, etc.
Requirements: Minimum six years of Production Management experience.

The Cutting Manager is responsible for preparing cut sheets for truss and wall panel manufacturing and verifying designs for accuracy. Create cut lists from design files to send to production. Maximize each order utilizing standard stock material. Compare trusses and connection details to original design and sealed design. Order closure metal per design criteria. Reports to the Plant Manager.
Requirements: Associates Degree (Technical)
Minimum two years of design and CAD experience.

The Dispatch Manager is responsible trucks are available for delivering orders, ensuring all paperwork is in order and that the loads are safe and in good condition. Managing the delivery schedule ensuring loads arrive on time with the correct material. Receiving product in the plant and verifying Purchase Orders. Reports to the Plant Manager.
Requirements: Minimum two years of shipping and receiving experience.

The Foreman is responsible for ensuring that production is completed in an efficient and effective manner and minimizing down time. Provides a clean, safe work area and make sure all paperwork is completed. Trains crews how to safely and correctly operate equipment and maintain the daily schedule. Ensures the quality, accuracy and timely completion of each order. Reports to the Plant Manager.
Requirements:
Minimum three years supervisory experience in truss manufacturing.

The General Manager directs and coordinates the activities of the organization to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of operations. Plans, develops and implements organization polices and goals. Coordinates activities of divisions or departments such as operations, manufacturing, engineering, planning, sales, maintenance or research and development. Analyzes division or department budgets. Confers with administrative personnel and reviews activity, operating and sales reports to determine changes in programs or operations required. Promotes organization in industry, manufacturing or trade associations.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree in business management or related discipline.

Territory Sales Manager: responsible for a geographic area.
District Sales Manager: responsible for a geographic area and may have several Territory Sales Mangers under their direction.
Sales leaders prospect for projects using Dodge, field contacts, referrals, cold calling, etc. They review jobs for suitability (location, size, quality of plans, specifications, complexity). Follow up on prospected jobs for addenda, revisions to the bid list, etc. Review bid worksheet and fact sheets. Provide take offs for miscellaneous material and make changes or revisions. Follow up on quotes; maintain a follow up log for Regional Sales Manager. Attend trade shows and perform presentations for Contractors, Architects and Engineers. Ensure scope for the project is clear and is reflected in bid proposal. Can read blueprints and is comfortable selling in the construction industry. Report to Regional Sales Manager.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree (Engineering preferred)
Three years of sales experience in the construction / cold formed steel industry.
Responsible for directing and leading District and Territory Sales Managers. Directs staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program. Coordinates sales distribution b establishing sales territories, quotas and goals. Advises clients concerning sales and advertising techniques. Reviews market analysis to determine customer needs, volume potential, and price schedules and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of the company. Represents company at trade association meetings. Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units. Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements. Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications. Directs product research and development. Establishes marketing goals to ensure share of market and profitability of products and/or services. Plans and oversees the organization’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic and direct mail outlets. Develops and recommends pricing strategies. Reports to Vice President.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree (Engineering preferred)
Ten years of sales experience in the construction / cold formed steel industry.

The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that customer expectations are met regarding scope, schedule, material, delivery and installation. The PM is the contact once the project is sold. All coordination is handled by the PM including meeting design time lines, requests for information (RFI), ensuring the Final Plans are the most current, coordinating production, installation and resolving job site concerns in prompt and cost effective manner. Reports to the General Manager.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree (Construction Management or Engineering)
Five years of supervision / management experience in the Commercial construction industry.

Final Design is responsible for producing component design drawings of cold formed steel trusses and wall panels for commercial construction projects. Must have the ability to review and understand blueprints and contract drawings. Required to have a complete understanding of CAD and be able to efficiently and quickly generate designs. Commercial construction knowledge is essential. Experience with Excel and Microsoft Word. Great Math skills are required. Works closely with Project Management to ensure the customer’s expectations are met. Contacts customers regarding questions related to final plans. Reports to the General Manager.
Requirements: Bachelors Degree (Engineering or Technical Field)
Three years of CAD experience in the commercial construction industry.

Overview
Each intern is assigned a mentor to ensure time at SSC is well spent. Some of the many assignments our interns may expect to work on include:
Project Management
- Assisting project managers and superintendents
- Coordinating subcontractor activities
- Planning and scheduling, processing change and extra work orders, preparing requests for progress payment
- Obtaining permits and licenses, checking zoning and code requirements, designing temporary facilities
- Arranging for utility services, conducting safety inspections and training, supervising punchlist activities
- Expediting material deliveries, assisting in documenting and preparing claims
- Verifying work hours, materials used, and other elements necessary for updating database files.
- Preparing briefing charts and formal reports
- Helping with close-out.
Field Operations
- Scheduling, checking material deliveries
- Assisting with cost control, inventory control, subcontractor monitoring
- Assisting with report preparation
- Assisting in safety inspections and participating in jobsite walks
- Conducting site tours
Office Operations
- Preparing quantity take-offs, calling vendors and subcontractors for proposals
- Checking drawings and specifications for completeness and discrepancies
- Attending bid openings/conferences
- Assisting with project record-keeping, preparing shop drawings, and assisting with cost-control records
